The history of Fenchihu Bento dates back to the days of the Alishan train, when locals relied on selling noodles for a living, and bento became a delicious option for tourists.
Over time, the reputation of the Fenchihu bento spread, sales continued to rise, and it became a must-try delicacy for tourists. However, after the opening of the Alishan Highway, the rise and fall of the Fenchihu bento also changed. To maintain its reputation as the "Bento Kingdom," the Lin family adhered to traditional production methods, ensuring that passengers traveling up the mountain by train could still enjoy the hot and fragrant railway bento.
